Day 2: 3DD

The second day of 3DD rotation we were to produce 20 sketches of spaghetti structures with the help of the glue gun that will hold three balls that are not touching one another, from yesterday's tasks I was familiar to think out of the box and not generic. Once I chose one from my 20 sketches I tried to understand how to work with the medium of spaghetti, which I wasn't familiar with.

During the process I didn't consider the balance of the structure and so I used my initiative and create a ladder base and adding spaghetti out vertically at an angle and using extra spaghetti for support and somehow adds a nice simple basic look to it. I think it reflects me perfectly as a person as I am small, organised and like things simple and neat.
The shadows from the spaghetti reminds me of The Serpentine Museum at Hyde Park by Sou Fujimoto, how it follows the boxy linear composition and how it can hole weight (in this case, the three balls) It wasn't intentional but I really liked how it tied in with a piece I saw before.

In the afternoon our next task was to create a barrier to prevent our spaghetti structure from crushing and so using my ideas from yesterday and today, I came up with creating pillars inbetween and abround the structure and hold the pillars in place with a wrap of paper and topped of with folded paper. We were given one A1 paper and two A4 papers.
In the end when Geoff tested my barrier, it took the hit but a bit of my spaghetti did just damaged, nevertheless I now have a greater knowledge of 3DD and having new ways to generate ideas and understand how structures and how the placements of things really matter.
