"A fashion stylist works with magazines, brands, designers, celebrities and musicians to create style imagery, they produce editorials that can be inspired by multitude of concepts - trends, shapes, colours, characters, eras, films, music etc. These concepts act as a creative advertisement for the brands that feature in the story as well as often aspiring to be considered a type of art-form."

Katy Lassen mention how fashion editorials for magazines are often unpaid or merely offer a small budge to cover costs. Stylists and photographers often put their own money into their fashion editorial. This pays off as these stories are what make up their portfolio/book that promotes you to get the paid commerial work.

Stylists and photographers often join agencies that look after the production of their shoots,
supports and encourages their artists so that everyone prospers, admins such as invoicing expenses as well as managing portfolio and promoting within the industry to magazines, brands and commerical clients. Big agencies include CLM, Streeters, Art and Commerce, MAP and D&V. Agency promotes their artist, often a collection of stylist, photographers, hair, make up etc.
